We strive to minimize the recovery period and we understand that it is difficult for our patients to miss more than one week from their professional and social schedules.Dr. O'Connell believes that the results achieved with Botox and injectable fillers are greatly dependent upon the training, experience and skill of the person performing the injection. Because of this, at Plastic Surgery of Southern Connecticut all Botox and injectable fillers are personally injected by Dr. O'Connell. Your Consultation Approximately 45 minutes to one hour is allotted for an aesthetic consultation and most patients are seen twice prior to surgery. A comprehensive medical history is taken and we will work with your other physicians to coordinate your care and minimize risk. Most procedures are performed in our accredited in-office surgical facility without need for general anesthesia. All patients meet with our board certified anesthesiologists prior to surgery. For those with medical problems or patients who require an overnight hospital stay, we offer affordable rates in conjunction with a local hospital. Local hotel accomodations, limousine service, a private entrance and two waiting areas are also available. During your consultation we will review your aesthetic goals and perform a careful examination. We will discuss in great detail the various surgical and non-surgical options (as well as their potential benefits and risks) and we will together formulate a plan designed to address your goals. Computer imaging and photographs and take-home written materials are educational tools offered to our patients. In facial rejuvenation, we strive for a rested, natural, harmonious, non-surgical look. Most eyelid surgery is performed under only local anesthesia. Dr. O'Connell has published articles on the use of laser resurfacing with more traditional facelift techniques and he is experienced with the new "short-scar" or "minimal incision" facelifts. Dr. O'Connell was the first plastic surgeon in Connecticut to perform ultrasonic liposuction and we assist our patients in the choice of the safest and most effective liposculpture techniques. Breast augmentation patients are encouraged to "try-on" implants for size and we believe the aesthetics of breast shape are equally important to the aesthetics of size. Dr. O'Connell has published two articles on breast reduction and, as with abdominoplasty and other aesthetic procedures, we strive to minimize the length of your surgery, anesthesia and recovery time. Dr. Vasquez made me feel very comfortable and explained everything to me about all the different inplants . He showed me my results on 3 D imaging, which made me more excited. I like his confidence and his overall attitude.. The office staff was very friendly.. The both times that i was at his office there was to wait time they took me right in. He is very calming and talks to you in such a gentle manor that I felt very comfortable. When I told him what I wanted he told me all of the pros and cons of both and when I left his office I knew that I wanted to do Vaser because it was the best fit for me, and I was happy with my decision. I also met with three other doctors just to do my research thoroughly, but chose Dr. Vasquez because he was the only one that answered all of my questions honestly, he was the only one that told me exactly what the outcome would be, he was very calming and gentle (which I think is important for a surgeon), and he was the only one that talked to me like a person and not like a patient. You have to go with your gut instincts, and my instincts said Dr. Vasquez was the best choice for me. After choosing Dr. Vasquez, I met him again and told him my only concern was that he might be too conservative for me and that I wanted him to be more aggressive. He asked me what I wanted, actively listened, and then agreed to be more aggressive as long as he kept me safe. I loved that he was willing to do what it takes to make me completely satisfied, yet was more concerned with my safety. That is the kind of person you want to do surgery on you! Of course, he was gentle and calming and helped me put the new wrap on. He didn't act like he had other appointments waiting, he wasn't rushing me out the door or asking me to make an appointment. He simply stopped to help me. I do not know a lot of doctors that would take the time to help you out like that. He and this whole experience has changed my life. I'm not longer depressed and starting to feel a lot better. I hope this review helps someone else. It's hard to know if you picked the right surgery or the right doctor.
