Your Consultation Consultation times are provided for patients on Mondays in our Brea Office and on Fridays in our Beverly Hills office. It helps to get the most out of your facetime with the doctor by taking notes during your consultation. You do not have to write everything down, only the key information so you can review it later. Take time to understand what Dr. Corbin is explaining. Sometimes patients hear only what they want to hear and they do not actually understand what the surgeon is saying. If you are feeling overwhelmed, slow the conversation down a bit. If you do not understand ask for an explanation. Educate the surgeon on you. Share with Dr. Corbin your expectations and surgical goals. Educating Dr. Corbin on what you want is as important as Dr. Corbin educating you on the risks of surgery and if your surgical expectations are realistic. Always be upfront and candid. Do not withhold any information, however insignificant it may seem, as it may affect your treatment or surgery. Always share any medication(s) or drugs you are taking and tell us if you are allergic to anything when the Doctor or Nurse are obtaining your history and physical. Understand the costs involved for your plastic surgery procedure. For most patients the financial part of surgery is of concern. Bargain hunting has its place, but not when it comes to surgery. When choosing a surgeon, do not base your decision on who is the least expensive. Wise investments are not always "bargains" and a serious complication is not ever a bargain at any price. The initial and subsequent contact with a prospective patient is provided by myself. in the initial consultation I will review the surgical procedures that are best suited to the patient's needs. Dr. Taleisnik and his staff are dedicated to providing individualized care of the highest quality, with a strong emphasis on personal interaction with the doctor. Every patient has unique desires, needs, and nuances. For this reason, Dr. Taleisnik meets with each patient at least two or three times prior to cosmetic surgery. Dr. Taleisnik always takes the time to understand the patient's specific situation, and to ensure that the patient is entirely comfortable regarding the upcoming procedure. Your Consultation Your initial consultation, and subsequent consultations, will be provided only by Dr. Taleisnik, and never by a nurse or patient coordinator. Dr. Taleisnik will first review your general health, before proceeding to your specific cosmetic requests. The goals of the initial consultation are to determine the surgical procedures that are most appropriate for you, and to educate you completely regarding these procedures, so that you can make an informed, comfortable decision about your surgery. The goal of the second consultation is to individualize your specific surgical details and planning. If you will be having breast surgery, it is helpful to bring photographs of desired and undesired breast sizes and appearances. Measurements and photographs will usually be obtained at this evaluation. Above all, Dr. Taleisnik will spend whatever time is necessary to ensure that he understands your wishes and concerns as fully as possible, so that you will be extremely pleased with your appearance after surgery. He will review the risks of surgery, as well as your instructions before and after surgery, including your postoperative activity level. The possible use of an anesthetic pump postoperatively, to minimize discomfort, will be discussed. All of your questions will be answered.
