During my years as a general surgery resident I became interested in plastic surgery for several reasons. The primary reason was my fascination with the ability to correct someone s traumatic or congenital deformity and bring them to a state of relative normalcy. Frequently, this transformation is more than just physical as a person s appearance is intimately linked to a feeling of emotional well-being. I also found working with children with craniofacial and cleft lip and palate deformities to be extremely rewarding; not only were the children healed, the parents were as well. It is from these experiences that I gained an appreciation for aesthetics.Aesthetic surgery can enhance one s natural beauty or correct less than perfect physical attributes such as those due to aging, childbirth, or massive weight loss. During consultation, there is a thorough discussion of my patient s goals and expectations as well as my objective findings. In doing so, we together formulate a plan to arrive at an aesthetically pleasing end result. People have plastic surgery for many different reasons. It is my goal to help each and every patient achieve their aesthetic potential.
